HOORAY FOR THE INTERNET!!!
Yeah, Can you tell i missed having the internet?? It's like I was trying to run around with one leg...
We're staying with my sister Giselle in Morrisville, and her neighbor was gracious enough to allow us to tap into his wireless connection. THANK GOODNESS. I was beginning to feel a total disconnect to the world.
We're going into our 3rd week here in NC...
The first week, we spent at the Outer Banks vacationing at the beach, (for those who don't know me, there is no place else I would rather be.) We met up with the Yoders and had a lot of fun pretty much going to the beach just about everyday. The kids absolutely LOVED it. This time... no sand eating. A sign that my babies are growing up. It was great to see Joshua and Isabella having so much fun in the Ocean. (With Dwight or I off course).
I've always loved the water, but I've also learned to respect it since to this day I can actually say I don't know how to swim. Too many times I've been thumped by the crashing waves, looking like a total idiot. Except this time, I didn't care. I really wanted my kids to see that being in the water can be fun, and who cares if you do look like a dork washing up to shore full of sand in your mouth and bathing suit?!?!
I guess it worked. They had a lot of fun. They barely wanted to play in the sand. They were absolutely content hanging out with their parents (Dwight mostly) in the water.
Jen and I tried to have a girls' night out, but we didn't get to do much. Just a movie and a lot of driving around... DOH! Although the Reeses' Sonic Blast at the end of the night made all the driving around worth it!!
Dwight and Steve did A LOT of fishing. I think they went crabbing once too. They were thrilled to eat the fruit of their labors. It really doesn't take much to please those two.
On the way home... well... not home yet... We drove to my sister's house in the Raleigh/Durham area. It was only 3.5 hours, great compared to poor Jen's family who had to drive a total of 10+ hours home to TN... Maybe next time they may have to fly out ;)
It has been great reconnecting with my other big sister, or middle sister I guess.
I've been babysitting my two nephews, and that alone has been an adventure... I give props to all of the mothers out there with more than just two kids... HOW DO YOU DO IT?!
But really, the kids have been really good, and I even have found some time to relax between changing two sets of dirty diapers!!
Dwight started his job on Monday and is really enjoying it. He really likes what he does, and doesn't mind me calling him a nerd. I DO LOVE MY NERD.
Since we have been here, we have been able to pick the apartment we want to live in until we get to know the area, and will move in on the 23rd. Moving in consists of Dwight's aerobed and a couple of suitcases... We also got to visit the ward we will be attending.
The Chapel Hill 1st ward reminds me A LOT of Harrisburg. All different ages, ethnicities, a lot of really nice people. We were VERY warmly greeted, and had a funny experience while driving to the building.
We had found the church building the day before with the help of a couple of missionaries we found wondering the streets of Chapel Hill. So we knew we needed to get to the left lane on this busy street. There was a car on that lane that was totally riding our tail and would not let us get on the left lane. So Dwight gunned it, and passed him and got on the left lane. We got on the turning lane and he followed us.
So then I gave Dwight my unsolicited advice with much wisdom in my voice... "You know, you really shouldn't cut people off this close to the church... we never know, they might be members!"
Well, we turned into the church parking lot and the car followed us, we parked and the couple jumped out of their car just a few spots away... LOOOOOOOONG story short... he was trying to read our license plate.
Turns out he served his mission in Brasil, and thought... those crazies must be Brasilians.... Well, really just one.
Needless to say they were a really nice couple and later on we met some other folks who either served in Brasil or Portugal, and another guy who is from Brasil. SWEET!
The kids also really enjoyed their classes -No tears!
Very warm reception in deed.
Another thing I noticed about the ward is that everyone calls each other by their first name. I like that a lot. I am terrible at calling people bro or sis at church. The one thing though, I have no idea who belongs to whom...
Anyway, I think we'll be fine in this ward. Let's just hope our housing issues get resolved soon. I have a couple of pictures, but most of them are still in my camera.
Will keep everyone updated.
XOXO
